A lot has been happening on the issue of government employee pensions, mostly in so-called “blue” states that seem to have the worst pension problems (Rhode Island, New York, and now even Illinois seems to be getting on the reform bandwagon).
Simply put, New Mexico, at least historically, has been a deep blue state. While not as bad as these states, we have serious pension problems that need to be addressed.
