At the risk of taking issue with everyone else's ideas, I wish to offer the following:

To continually get caught up in the non-winnable battle over "draconian spending cuts" vs. "Revenue enhancements" (read that as more theft-taxation for us on top of the excessive amounts alreay stolen from us), is unrewarding and ludicrious.

Why aren't we instead focused on the massive waste in the federal government. The head of the Citizens' Committee on Government Waste recently appeared on Bill O'Reilly's show and said that last year $400 billion was wasted just on duplication of programs. This didn't address all government waste, just that attributable to program duplication. If this small part of government waste is as large as it is, why do we continue to let liberals back us into the corner of "draconian cuts that balance the budget on the backs of the poor" vs. tax increases that are completely unneccessary?

We should be countering their whining with these numeric facts pointing out that we can almost eliminate the deficit every year by killing off the various kinds of waste. Could they really mount a believeable answer to that?

I think we are wasting our time, continually letting ourselves be boxed in to corners every time this issue comes up.

What do you think?
